Patrick Thompson is a composer, lyricist, and instrumentalist. His musical, Passing By (book, music and lyrics by Thompson) premiered in The Chicago Musical Theatre Festival as well as The New York Musical Theatre Festival in July of 2015. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at NYU Tisch in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
In 2014-16 Patrick moved to Milwaukee, WI and music directed 15 musical productions including Dogfight, Ordinary Days, Spring Awakening, Jekyll & Hyde, The Addams Family, The Wizard of Oz and more. at various local theatres and high schools. He taught as an Resident Teaching Artist with Skylight Music Theatre in the Milwaukee Public Schools and taught musical theatre at the First Stage Children’s Theatre Summer Academy to students ranging from 5th to 12th grade. His other professional work includes lounge piano (The Pfister Hotel, The Intercontinental Hotel), accordion (Lavender Daughter, The Improvised Musical), weddings (services and composing) and working as a vocal coach to performers. Patrick is a graduate of McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul, MN with a Bachelor’s of Music in Instrumental Composition and Songwriting (magna cum laude). He currently resides in New York City. |
